Frequently Asked Questions

What are your lures made of?

My leather lures are made using veg-tan cowhide that is a by-product of the food industry. The thread I use is a polyester to ensure the strength of the stitching for years to come. The thread contains beeswax, which may be an allergy to some.

Will my lure stain?

Short answer? Yes. Some people like it, some don’t. It is less noticeable on darker dyes.

Are the weights in your lures Non-Toxic?

As a falconer and hunter I know the dangers of lead. I go out of my way to ensure that all the weighted ball bearings I use in my lures are completely lead free. They are either 100% steel or copper depending on what I have on hand at the time.

How much do your lures weigh?

There is some variation amongst the lures as each is unique, but I try to be consistent. You can request a specific weight for your order free of charge. This chart may be helpful to know what to expect with our products.

What if I don’t know what size hood my bird needs?

When ordering a hood, please provide all the info you can including species, sex, and flight weight. This can help me narrow down a ballpark on what size of hood to make. If I send you a hood and it does not fit, I will replace it with an adjusted size.
